Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! Abilene Preservation League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law. We’ll send you a receipt for your records, and your tax advisor can help with any questions about your specific situation..
Where can I find assistive funding for my historic home?
Grants/funding from foundations are generally restricted to non-profit organizations. However, a 20% income tax credit is available for the rehabilitation of income-producing historic buildings (rental properties). To apply for historic overlay zoning in Abilene, start by contacting Abilene’s landmarks commission.

Do you have a historical archive?
Yes. Our historical archive consists of a handful of original architectural works, Abilene specific ephemera and photographic material. However, our collection is not as in-depth as other historically significant organizations and/or collections.
Where can I find historical information about my home?
There are many useful resources online to help you learn more about your historical home and methods to preserve its legacy. We have compiled all of the best local, state, and national resources, which you can view on our Resources tab.
How can I become a member?
The quickest way is by navigating to “become a member” under the ‘support us tab’. You may also mail a check to PO Box 3451 Abilene, TX 79604. Checks should be made out to ‘Abilene preservation league’ in the amount of $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $2,500.
Do you have volunteer opportunities?
Volunteer opportunities arise throughout the year, based on the season and APL events. We encourage you to regularly check our Events page for the latest opportunities. we look forward to offering new ways to get involved as we begin the early phases of our Abilene Courts and WTU projects, .
